The Coast Guard rescued two people aboard an 18-foot trimaran that was disabled and taking on water in the vicinity of Honokohau Harbor Saturday.
The Coast Guard rescued two people aboard an 18-foot trimaran that was disabled and taking on water in the vicinity of Honokohau Harbor Saturday.
While patrolling in the area, crewmembers from Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team Honolulu 91107 received notification approximately 11:30 a.m. from a good Samaritan that a trimaran with two persons aboard was disabled and taking on water and in need of assistance.
The team diverted to the scene in a Coast Guard 25-foot response boat. The partially submerged trimaran was found at 11:44 a.m. and was taken in side tow and transported safely back to Honokohau Harbor.
Maritime Safety and Security Team Honolulu 91107 was in the area enforcing Operation Dry Water, an annual national campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of boating under the influence.
